Our Crest Mountain show called “Fiddles -n- Vittles” is traditional mountain “hoedown” music featuring a variety of local artists such as the Good Ol’ Mountain Dewds, Abby the Spoon Lady with Chris Rodrigues, and the J Creek Cloggers! (based on the entertainers availability)
The Good Ol’ Mountain Dewds hail from Buncombe County, North Carolina and feature the blue-ribbon fiddling of Steve Trismen and the solid rhythm guitar playing of Steve Burnside. Along with solid harmony singing, the two Steve’s whip up tunes from local popular bluegrass, country and western swing melodies. As partners for over 25 years, the Dewds draw from a variety of mountain and modern influences that have made the Great Smoky Mountains the birthplace of America’s traditional country music sound.
Abby Roach, known as Abby the Spoon Lady, is a percussionist and storyteller who lives in Asheville, North Carolina. She is one of very few professional spoon players in the United States and has been a professional street performer for over a decade. She is President of the Asheville Buskers Collective, a video and audio series about street performers. Abby is also joined on stage by Chris Rodrigues, a one-man band and street performer here in Asheville. She explains that she met Chris street performing on the sidewalk and well, the rest is history!
